"My mother left me this song. I've practiced it daily... Always hoping that I might play it one day for her."
— Marie playing Moon Princess on her violin for Elisabeth, Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure

Marie (マリア, Maria) is one of the main protagonists in Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure. She is a young violinist of seventeen who accompanies Raphael because of the marking on her violin being identical to the one on the coin Raphael's father left him and the Bracelet of Tiamat.

Marie's mother, Duchess Elisabeth, left her on the steps of St. Louré Convent when she was a baby to protect her from Napoleon. She also left a violin and a sheet of music for her to learn.

As Marie grew up in the convent, Jean-François hired someone to give her violin lessons, since Marie wanted to play the piece her mother left her. She hopes to become famous so that one day, her mother will listen to one of her performances. Marie befriends Josette at the convent.
