"Forgive me, Marie. I wanted to spare you from all this."
— Elisabeth apologising to Marie after being shot, Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure

Chapter 4: The Paris Opéra[]

After Jean-François tells Marie that the Duchess Elisbeth may be her mother, the two of them go to the Paris Opéra to meet her. However, Elisabeth denies any relationship to Marie. Marie plays Moon Princess on her violin, explaining that she practiced it every day in hopes that one day her mother would hear it. Although Elisabeth pauses for a moment at the sound, she ultimately tells her butler Alfred that they are leaving. Marie runs away crying.

Later, Phantom R visits Elisabeth in the VIP salon in order to steal the Queen's Pendant that she owns. Elisabeth proposes that if Phantom R can beat Alfred, who is also her bodyguard, he can have the Queen's Pendant.

When Phantom R defeats Alfred in Throwdown with Alfred, Elisabeth gives him the pendant without complaint. She explains that the pendant was only a burden for her. When the mark starts to glow, Elisabeth tells Phantom R that the Bracelet of Tiamat has always been worn by those chosen to do the Earth Goddess Tiamat's will on Earth. She also offers him a family saying: "Beneath sun and moon, Amaryllis leads those who sing in the rain." Phantom R then tries to ask whether she really is Marie's mother or not, but Inspector Vergier shows up before he can, and Phantom R is forced to leave.

Trivia[]

  • Elisabeth's name is misspelled twice in Chapter 8. First, when Raphael picks up her diary, it is called "Elisabeth's diary". Shortly afterward, while reading the diary, Raphael says, "Marie was Eliabeth's daughter."
