...Has it really been over a year since I started editing here?
I've been staring at my screen for hours on end--as I do--thinking about the words I want to get out of my head. All I can say is... Wow...
A few weeks ago, I've finally hit the 365th consecutive day mark on my account. Initially, I wasn't planning on editing every day, but the fanboy in me wanted to get in as much material as I reasonably could. I did find my contributions becoming more minimal as time went on, mainly due to my busy schedule. Sometimes I would only make small changes to text, or add a piece to my personal profile, but at the end of the day, I still feel I made progress, and I'm happy I was able to stay consistent with it. There were a few days where I forgot to make an edit, and as a result, I was sent back to square one. I was initially worried about adding too much in one day, as I felt that I may not have enough material to add afterwards, so I would contribute in incriments. After I finally reached my goal, I have been taking things a bit easy, though it's also due to it being Winter Break right now. I have been contributing in larger chunks now, but still, I'm not sure how much I should add in one day, and how often I should be doing it. I may start editing once every few days to get myself comfortable.
When I started editing on Fandom, I didn't think it would lead me to where I am now. I've mentioned my history a few times before, but for anyone new here, I'll give a quick rundown: I first got into Rhythm Thief in 2018, and played through the whole game for the remainder of my first semester of university. At some point, I got worried about missables in the game, so I did a quick search and discovered the wiki. I noticed that many of the pages looked empty, but didn't think much of it as I wanted to avoid spoilers. Fast forward to 2021-2022, I was still doing online courses, and SEGA had announced Sonic Colors: Ultimate and teased Sonic Frontiers. At that point, I had made a few edits on Sonic News Network (now Sonic Wiki Zone), but it wasn't until March 2022 that I started taking wiki editing more seriously out of boredom. I collect Sonic media, including Sonic Team's other works, such as NiGHTS, Samba de Amigo, and Billy Hatcher. I looked into wikis related to those titles and rediscovered Rhythm Thief Wiki. The first thing I checked was the date of the last edit, which, back then, was December 2021. I started in May 2022, and began to make edits bit by bit, day by day. Soon after, I met with one of the wiki's moderators.
@Nostrawberriesallowed, I remember a month into me making edits, you had reached out to me to say hi. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted by one of the moderators. From there, I saw you as an advisor. If there's ever an idea that pops up, or if I experiment with something on the wiki, you would reach out to me to offer your thoughts, and I feel you were always really respectful when offering your input. I really appreciate the tools you're able to create for the wiki, particularly the dialogue tools! I do feel a little bad, as I'm not the most proactive in terms of communication. I often overthink every single word when writing out my thoughts because I'm afraid I'll rub people the wrong way without intending to. Either way, I do try my best to get back to you, and I hope that if I have more thoughts regarding suggestions for the wiki, some feedback, or general chitchat, if that's okay with you, that I'll start contacting you more. Thank you for guiding me along the way! Your passion for the series really shows and I'm glad to have been a part of your journey!
And @Miialona, I believe you're one of the newest contributors to the wiki. I greatly appreciate your help with the French translations of rhythm games. I'd also like to learn more about your history with discovering the series and what the game means to you, again, if that's okay! I'm currently compiling the translated titles of locations and other elements, so be sure to look out for those! Hope you enjoy your time here!
And to anyone else who has contributed along the way, either past, present, or future, thank you very much! There have been a few more people who have added to the wiki since I started, so I hope we keep this momentum going!
As for some of my other tasks, I'm still finishing up getting the Emperor's Treasure scripts done (I'm still a little on the fence regarding the formatting; some changes may be possible). I'm compiling screenshots from the game and other images I can scour off the internet regarding promotional material for the game. I'm still working on the puzzle game pages as well. There's still more, but that's all that comes to mind right now.
As a confession, I still haven't 100%-ed the game. Some of the rhythm games on Hard Mode are giving me a tough time (hard for me to nail the timing on some of the button pressing games)... and I still want to finish the Japanese and PAL versions of the game. Also not looking forward to crowning each rhythm game, even if Nakamura says it's only for bragging rights. I want those bragging rights, haha! On a related note, I've also been playing Samba de Amigo: Party Central every now and then to level up and collect currency, much like how I boot up Emperor's Treasure to play a few rhythm games and nab some Medals.
Fun fact: For gathering material for the wiki, I mainly play the PAL version of the game on my "special" New 2DS XL to collect screenshots and see the translated titles of various aspects, as the North American version lacks German and Italian support. I also make frequent backups of my saves so I have an easy way of accessing something from a certain point, should I need to. I managed to download a PAL save file with the main story completed for easier access to aftergame stuff. (I still had to get the remaining A Ranks, though...)
I'll end things off by showing my current Rhythm Thief collection. Also throwing in my Samba de Amigo collection for funsies (and some other related titles).
(My left copy of Party Central and my PAL copy of Rhythm Thief are both sealed. Also, I realize now that I forgot to take a picture of my Rub Rabbits soundtrack... Oh, well.)
Here's to making the wiki the best it can be! And Happy New Year to you all!
